A culture of life-long learning
LOCATED in a safe and picturesque suburban setting, Redlynch State College offers a positive learning environment for students from Prep through to Year 12.
The College has a proud history of academic success, sporting prowess, community support and parent involvement.
Through the delivery of personalised, inclusive, flexible and innovative approaches, Redlynch State College fosters creative, engaged and globallyready learners.
Executive Principal Tony Fuller says the College’s dedicated staff “nurture and encourage students to excel and thrive in their academic, cultural and sporting achievements”.
“At Redlynch State College our focus is not on whether every child is ready for school but whether our school is ready for every child,” he says.
The school’s comprehensive “Transition to School” program engages with families and the community prior to and after starting school, with a focus on developing and maintaining strong partnerships to support each child’s individual learning.
Highlights of the program include transition sessions, including Storyland, Finger Gym, Music Land and Sport Fit, along with a half-day excursion for a “Morning in Prep” experience.
“These sessions give children the opportunity to experience a range of ‘big school’ activities, engage with a range of staff and meet other children who will be starting school with them,” Mr Fuller says.
“During our transition program we offer a range of parent information sessions including information on oral language development, tips to help your child become a reader, healthy lunchbox ideas and tips for a worry-free start to Prep.”
“In Years 1 to 6 the focus is developing the core skills of reading, writing and numeracy. As student’s progress through the years they develop more sophisticated skills to enable further learning in each subject area. Students learn in flexible and innovative learning spaces with our teachers offering a range of approaches to suit students individual learning styles.“
The College aims to ensure that every student from Prep to Year 12 experiences a curriculum that focuses on their future and prepares them to succeed in their field of choice.
The core curriculum for Years 7 and 10 is supported by a range of elective choices that allows students to study subjects that they have a keen interest in.
In the Senior School an extensive range of choices again provides opportunities to participate in learning programs that lead to success in attaining university placement or work.
Senior students can complete an academic program that leads to tertiary outcomes, with a direct link with all universities across Australia, as well as access a strong vocational program where certificate courses and school-based apprenticeships offer a pathway to local employment.
The school also offers a number of Centre of Excellence programs, in areas such as music, live production and services, drama, dance, visual arts and science.
Redlynch State College’s vision — ‘learning in our Valley, thinking beyond the hills’ — is supported by a school-wide pedagogy of relationships, success, connections, equity and quality.
These pedagogies underpin the learning activities that the college provides across all phases of learning. For more information on enrolments, school services and facilities call 4039 9222 or visit www.redlynchsc.eq.edu.au.
