Every situation has an upside

-

I’VE recovered well from the injury that kept me out last week.

The strength’s back to normal and I’ve passed all the testing so now it’s just about ticking the boxes and hopefully I’m not too far away.

Thankfully, it was only a minor injury and I’ve only missed a week but in that week we’ve had the Sydney derby and a Cup semi final.

That’s disappointing when you can’t control what’s happening in front of you.

I’m trying to figure out what would be worse: not playing as an injured player or not playing when you’re fully fit.

I think not playing when you’re fully fit hurts more because when you’re injured you at least know why you aren’t playing.

I’m lucky in a way as we’ve seen within the league lately there have been a few serious injuries and you never want to see those as an athlete.

We definitely had a hard preseason so I guess this injury has given me a good chance to give my body a bit of a rest.

It definitely helps being able to let your body catch up and recover.

The lesson is: you can always take positives out of situations.

It was disappointing to get knocked out of the Cup against Adelaide on Tuesday night but whenever you’re in a game and it doesn’t go your way, I think when you wake up the next morning you’re already feeling better.

We had our recovery session and we reviewed the game but after that meeting you kind of brush it aside and switch focus to the next game.

We’ll be travelling to play the Newcastle Jets on Sunday and we’re up for the challenge.

We’ve got three away games now against quality teams so we really need to keep on task.

We’re undefeated so far in the league this season and hopefully we can keep it that way.

I’M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WOULD BE WORSE: NOT PLAYING AS AN INJURED PLAYER OR NOT PLAYING WHEN YOU’RE FULLY FIT
