Centre awaits megastore
GLOBAL Brands Outlet has been renamed and will soon open a commanding new “megastore” at Cairns’ Showground Shopping Centre.
The business – now known as Nothing Over $10 – will occupy the 1000sq m tenancy vacated by sports retailer Rebel, which recently moved to Cairns Central after spending many years at the BungaOne low shopping centre. Scott Green of Ray White Commercial Cairns said the Mulgrave Rd site attracted interest from three “well-known businesses” before Steve Watchman of Global Brands Outlet (GBO) signed the dotted line.
“It was a pleasant position to be in and I would have liked to accommodate all three businesses into the centre,” Mr Green said.
“We’re excited to have chosen a local company, GBO Pty Ltd, who have a very strong client base and highvolume sale turnover, which will benefit the already busy complex and attract even more traffic movement.”
It comes 11 years after GBO first opened its store on Lake St. These days, the business also has shopfronts at Stockland Cairns Shopping Centre and the nearby Raintrees Shopping Centre.
“We constantly look to deliver great products at unbeatable prices and I think people will be blown away when they see our range of products,” said owner Steve Watchman.
The new Nothing Over $10 store is expected to open on November 11.
“We’ve been looking to expand for a while now. We needed a bigger shop with more variety to service the locals better,” Mr Watchman said.
“We’re always looking to evolve and be aggressive with our pricing.
“That’s why I’m rarely on the shop floor these days. I spend so much of my time doing research. We want to take online shopping out of the equation and most people won’t shop online for something that costs under $10.”
