FINE ‘N’ DEVINE’S EASY WIN

Trainer hails QTIS bonus after three-year-old salutes at Cannon Park

- JORDAN GERRANS

CAIRNS trainer Rhonda Inglis has hailed QTIS races as vital to racing in the Far North after impressive three-year-old Fine ‘n’ Devine scored her second win in a row at Cannon Park yesterday.

All six of the TAB races on the Cairns Jockey Club program yesterday were worth $10,000 each, except the first event on the card, the 3-Y-O Benchmark 60 Handicap (1250m), which included a Queensland Thoroughbred Incentive Scheme bonus for qualified horses.

The QTIS bonus supports the Queensland breeding and racing industry by providing additional prizemoney incen- tives for connections of QTIS qualified racehorses through QTIS bonuses.

Fine ‘n’ Devine, by Drumbeats from Leave It To Chance, is QTIS qualified and Inglis, who owns and trains the filly, believes it is key for racing in the region.

“It is a great scheme and really helps us tremendously too,” Inglis said.

“We do not race for a great deal of money here in the north so if you have a little handy QTIS horse, it certainly helps. “The extra money is vital.” The Inglis-trained filly has now had seven starts and only been outside the money once.

Fine ‘n’ Devine won well at Townsville last start over 1200m and with gun jockey Wanderson D’Avila in the saddle yesterday, he rode her like a good thing.

“She did it pretty easy,” D’Avila said.

“I was sitting behind the leader just stalking then she hit the top off the straight and went from there. I think she will win another race.”

Inglis is confident the threeyear-old can find further ground but could go out for a spell now.

D’Avila grabbed a winning treble yesterday as he and old boss Roy Chillemi returned Concluder back to the winners list after a handful of luckless runs.

After suffering a fall at Townsville on Saturday, hoop Ngarie Nelson received a medical clearance to ride and bounced back in perfect fashion, riding a winner in the fourth race of the afternoon.

WE DO NOT RACE FOR A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY HERE IN THE NORTH SO IF YOU HAVE A LITTLE HANDY QTIS HORSE, IT CERTAINLY HELPS RHONDA INGLIS
