JORDAN’S AIR - NBL ROUND 5 WRAP

COACH IS GIANTS’ GAIN

IT ALL got a bit lost in the NBL news last week but congratulations to Marlins coach Jamie Pearlman for securing a gig in the NZ NBL with the Nelson Giants.

Pearlman (left) is one of those blokes you would never hear someone say a bad word about and the entire Marlins group always speak highly of him. Not just as a coach but as a person outside of basketball.

The Giants look to have a young core across the ditch so it sounds like he is stepping into a decent job.

FORWARD THINKING

WOULD any teams around the league be inquiring about experienced Kings forward Tom Garlepp?

The veteran has not been in the rotation all season even when Sydney have been battling for production from their big men.

Garlepp would be a handy inclusion for several clubs at this point of the season if they could work out a deal.

A QUESTION OF SPORT

BULLETS coach Andrej Lemanis may need to harden up. After Illawarra torched Brisbane on Friday night, the game ran short and the Foxtel lads needed to pad out for 10 minutes before the Sydney and Perth game started. Lemanis (above) was being interviewed and was not happy. He said something along these lines: “I do not know why you are interviewing me seeing as we just lost”, to John Casey. Come on mate, you coach the national team, surely you can answer a few questions after an NBL game.

WRIGHT TIME TO GO

JOEY Wright was at his absolute best on Saturday evening. Wright was ejected 59 seconds before three-quarter time.

After persistent dialogue with the referees, Wright said “give me a tech” and the referee obliged with two of them, leaving assistant Kevin Brooks and his colourful shoes to coach the team in the final quarter. His antics worked as the 36ers seemed to get more calls in the final term.

The other drama surrounded star shooting guard and former Snake Nathan Sobey who played just four minutes in the first three quarters.

IN FOR A TREAT

THERE is not a better show in the NBL than Chris Goulding when he is firing. Against Cairns on Thursday, Goulding (right) hit six triples on his way to 20 points at Hisense Arena and played up to the crowd all night.

He could be on the way to doing it again this week in the Far North.
