Farm worker dies

A MAN working on a banana farm south of Innisfail has died after his tractor is believed to have crashed into a drain. Emergency services were called to the property on Germantown Rd near Mena Creek just after 3.30pm yesterday following reports the man had suffered significant injuries. The 53-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. A police spokesman confirmed the Forensic Crash Unit had been advised and were investigating. The incident is believed to have occurred on a private farm. A Workplace Health and Safety spokesman said they had been advised of the incident and an inspector and investigator attended the site. He said they were assisting police with the investigation.
