Rita Ora (right) has explained her bizarre wardrobe choice of a bathrobe and stilettos at last week’s MTV Europe Music Awards. Touching down in Australia for a whirlwind promo tour, the British chart topper explained to Confidential that she decided on the fashion statement because “nobody has done it”. “I felt subconsciously relatable. I just wanted to show people that you could be yourself and I guess a robe and a towel on my head is me being myself,” she said.

RITA Ora has explained her bizarre wardrobe choice of a bathrobe and stilettos at last week’s MTV EMA Awards.

Touching down in Australia for a whirlwind promo tour, the British chart-topper explained that she decided on the fashion statement because “nobody has done it”.

“I felt subconsciously relatable. I just wanted to show people that you could be yourself and I guess a robe and a towel on my head is me being myself,” Ora said, speaking ahead of an intimate Red Room radio gig for Nova in Melbourne last night.

“There was a subconscious message, which was I can take the piss out of a red carpet and it is not that serious.”

Ora, who is promoting her new single Anywhere, also laughed off her prank on Germany’s The Voice.

Like the contestants, Ora performed to the judges who had their backs turned. Thankfully they all turned around during her performance, however when they saw her a lot didn’t recognise her.

“I just thought it would be fun to do it. My single was in the top of the charts for a few weeks in Germany so it was the perfect thing to go there and show some support and love,” Ora said.

“They were a bit confused. It was fun. It was wicked.”

The 26-year-old’s second album, which has been five years in the making, is slated for release next year.

“I really wanted to get to the bottom of what people wanted to know, everything with my personal life, it all boiled up from the frustration of not being able to put music out for a few years,” said Ora, who in the past has dated Calvin Harris and Drake. “It was anger into desperation into sadness and so it has a lot of emotion in there. The good news is I have one really powerful song for all my ladies and it is called Girls.”

She added: “You’ve just got to go with the flow. If people like it, they like it, I have always been like that. As long as I get to perform and go on tour, we will see how it goes.”

Ora has vowed to return to Australia next year, bringing her live stage show for a na- tional tour. “When I come back next year I am definitely touring. I am going to come to Australia and all the other places in the world,” the singer said.
