IF YOU love a bargain, mark your calendars for December 31, the Cooktown Waste Transfer Station’s first monthly garage sale. The garage sales will be held on the last Sunday of every month behind the site office at the transfer station, and will be open to the public during regular Sunday dump hours. Baton heads our way

THE Queen’s Baton will arrive in Cooktown on Monday, March 5, 2018, on its way to the Commonweal­th Games on the Gold Coast. Residents can plan the best spot to cheer on the local baton bearers with details about the Cooktown community celebratio­n and the baton route now available at gc2018.com/qbr.
