YEAR 5 camp was at Daradgee near Innisfail from November 1-3. It was an experience for all Year 5s to get to know each other better and learn their personal strengths through challenges.

During Year 5 camp there were lots of activities that challenged the students.

They did the mohawk walk, which used everyone’s teamwork skills to get across the cable. They also did top roping and bouldering, which used persistence and care if you were helping to use the rope that stopped others from falling.

There were seven staff from Daradgee and 10 staff from Our Lady Help of Christians.

They all participated in the activities and helped with our safety.

With these staff members Grade 5 were able to have an awesome time.

Grade 5 student Zhane Ketchell said: “I had an awesome time at camp, it would be great to go back.”

All Year 5 students were awake by 6.30am and eating breakfast by 7am.

They then did an activity and had morning tea at 10.30am. They then did an activity and had lunch then did another activity and had afternoon tea.

During the time before dinner the teachers gave them free time. On the first night, they had showers and during free time on the second night, they had a liturgy and showers.

Teacher Jason Atkins said: “Year 5 camp will give you memories that will last a lifetime.”
