PERRIN’S GOT THE GOODS

BULLETS coach Andrej Lemanis said this about his import Perrin Buford after their win over Cairns on Thursday night:

“You don’t seem to hear much about Perrin Buford but he does a pretty good job and is getting double-doubles, plays defence, can score at the rim, can pass and I just like the way he goes about his business. He is quiet and he’s not a showman, he just goes about his business.” After his performance in Perth on Saturday, Lemanis may be on the money.

EVERYBODY LOVES JERRY

THE love for Jerry Evans Jnr continues to grow. He is quickly becoming a fan favourite and it sounds like he had some big admirers in Melbourne too.

The word is United would have happily signed Jerry if Casey Prather had not fallen in their lap.

Jerry was excellent for them in preseason against the Texas Longhorns and Wisconsin Badgers.

Taipans fans can see why the cashed-up United wanted him.

PRATHER’S GRISLY INJURY

DO NOT watch the Casey Prather footage if you have not already. Like a sickening leg break in football, just do not watch it.

Melbourne United coach Dean Vickerman expects to be without his American star for several weeks after he dislocated his elbow in Saturday night’s win over Illawarra. Prather, who won two NBL championships with the Perth Wildcats before joining Melbourne this season, landed awkwardly in the second quarter before being assisted to the dressing room in obvious discomfort.

WHERE is this bloke? A usual fixture at Cairns Taipans games, winding up the opposition bench, the man with the loud Hawaiian shirt has not been seen in months. He was there at the first couple of games of the 2017-18 season but nowhere to be seen since. With the Snakes needing a few wins, let’s hope he is back soon.
