POT FULL OF FUN

-

CAMPING can be a fun getaway during the holidays – a time to run around and get messy.

But to ensure you get the best out of the experience there are a few things to keep in mind and things to prepare.

Activities Alphabet scavenger hunt

You can play this around the camp-site or when you’re on a hike. You just need to find and either write down or take photos of objects or signs that start with the letter, going from A to Z.

The first one to Z wins. This may take a few days to play.

Catch or don’t catch

One player stands in the middle of a circle with a ball. The player in the middle goes around the circle saying “catch” or “don’t catch” and throwing the ball. If a player in the circle catches the ball when told not to or the other way around, that player is out.

Camp-site Olympics

Create a set of games. Relay races work well. For example: Pass the Water. Each person in each team has a plastic cup. The first person in each team fills up their cup and then dumps the water out over their head into the next person’s cup. And you continue in the line, trying to keep as much water possible. The team with the most water at the end of the relay wins.

Glow stick hide and seek

Activate glow sticks and hide them just before night fall. At night when they start to glow, the person who collects the most wins. *You can buy glow sticks from discount stores.

You can also turn glow sticks into a fun night time game of ring toss.

Camp craft

You need string or wool and a couple of sticks.

Take two small sticks and place together to form a cross. Tie a piece of string close to the centre of the cross (leaving a tail hanging), and then begin bringing the string under and over weaving around the sticks until it forms a diamond-shape. Cut the string and tie off the ends.

Capture the flag

Form two teams. Set up two zones. Give each team a a bright object like a T-shirt for a flag.

Each group hides their flag somewhere in their territory. The flag must be at least partially visible and not impossible to retrieve.

The goal of the game is to find and grab the other team’s flag and bring it back to your zone.

You tag players of the other team to stop them from taking your flag.

Once tagged you cannot move until a member from your team touches you, to release you.
