Ladies notes: Edge Hill Ladies bowlers celebrated Christmas lunch and Presentation of Championship games on Thursday, December. Bowls resumes Thursday, January 25, 2018, at 1.30pm, for the Betty Hampton Shield. All Edge Hill Lady Bowlers are requested to attend if possible. Games and times for the EHMBC: Tuesday afternoon, mixed pairs; Tuesday night bowls, club selected mixed pairs, 7pm start; Wednesday afternoon, men’s threes, 1pm start; Wednesday night, mixed threes, 7pm start; Saturday afternoon, men’s threes, 1pm start. Please notify the club (4053 1036) if you wish to play, and arrive 30 minutes before start of games. Dress is casual for all of the above games. Results Mens Ham Day, Thursday, December 14, winners: Mucka and Joy Baird; runners-up Alan Petersen and Graeme Spicer. Club Christmas Bowls and Goose Club Day, Sunday December 17, winners: Peg McAleese, Graeme Spicer, Bevan Wright; runners-up: David Syme, John Rossi, Denise Quinn. Championship winners for 2017 were also presented on the day. As the green renovations are not scheduled to occur until January, men’s bowls will continue to be played over the festive season so, if you are looking for a game during the break, come along. Ladies are welcome to play as are visitors from other clubs. Names to club by noon Thursdays for 1pm start, phone 4056 1050. A reminder to the men that the Ivan Granich Memorial Shield commences on January 6, 2018; put your name on the board or let the club know by phone or email if you’d be interested in playing. Also, the Sam Rinaudo Shield will be played over the Australia Day Weekend – names required as well for that team.

Thursday, December 21, mixed social bowls, names in by 1pm, play starts at 1.30pm. Mini Ham Day donated by Brian Walker. Visitors and new bowlers welcome. All come along for the last day for the year. Bowls resumes Sunday, January 7. Results: Wednesday, December 13, winners: Roly, Ethel, Lorraine, Elio and John Barnes. Thursday, December 14, winners: A. Dezen and On Thursday, 30 players were on the green for the last of the ham days. Winners: S. Dallapozza, V. McAvoy, D. Cook. On Saturday only six players enjoyed a social game. The Final of the Consistency Singles was played on Sunday morning between Gordon Goes and Justin Walker. The game was tight until the score stood at 65-all, but then Goes’ experience kicked in and he won 124-92. The Annual Presentation and Goose Club date has been changed to Friday, December 22. The format will be: 3pm social bowls (no green fees); 5.30pm presentation to the winners of club competitions; 6pm free sausage sizzle followed by the drawing of The Goose Club.
