CAPTAIN Cameron Gliddon has put the Taipans’ focus this week directly on putting the ball in the basket more as they look to snap their two-game losing sequence.

Cairns travels to the reigning minor premier of the NBL later this week for a rare Christmas Eve clash against the 36ers.

Sunday’s game is the first ever NBL match played on Christmas Eve, with Christmas Day soon to be the only date that has never hosted an NBL game in the 40 seasons of the competition. “Our offence (will be our focus this week),” Gliddon said.

“We have not been able to score the last two months very well obviously due to having people out.

“We need to figure it out.”

Sunday’s game is the first ever NBL match played on Christmas Eve, with Christmas Day soon to be the only date of the entire year that has never hosted an NBL game in the 40 seasons of the competition.

The Round 11 clash pits the highest-scoring team in the NBL (Adelaide with 92.1 points per game) against the lowestscoring team (Cairns with 78.1 points per game).

Australian Boomer Gliddon knows the Snakes will be no chance of making the top four if they do not start lifting their offensive output.

“Our offence (will be our focus this week),” Gliddon said.

“We have not been able to score the last two months very well obviously, due to having people out. “We need to figure it out. “We need to start putting points on the board.

“We cannot win scoring 70 points a game.

“That will definitely be a focus for us.

“If we can keep them to a low margin and get our own thing clicking on offence, I think we will have a good chance.”

Adelaide were dealt another blow through the injury of shooter Anthony Drmic, who joins former captain Mitch Creek on the sidelines for the Snakes clash.

Drmic will miss the next three weeks after he suffered a medial collateral ligament sprain in the win over the New Zealand Breakers last week.

The 36ers, currently 8-6 and fourth on the table, will be on the second game of a Round 11 double when they face Cairns after tackling Melbourne in Victoria on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Taipans coach Aaron Fearne was given the opportunity yesterday before training to respond to reports about Michael Carrera’s sacking.

“No ... we good,” he said.
