On other matters
I agree with ‘one-time so-called bludger ‘ (CP, 26/12). Job networks are just a waste of time. They are an extension of Centrelink to deter job seekers. I have not yet got a job through them. We are doing the hard work ... they get the rewards. There is no assistance if your partner earns over the threshold. We are basically on our own. Give assistance to those who want to work and be tougher on those who don’t. Simple, take it on a case-by-case approach. I want to work. Mike, Cairns Maggie (CP, 22/12). You proclaim extremely negative consequences for humanity due to an increase in global average temperature caused by greenhouse gas from fossil fuel use. But after 40 years it’s just not happening, is it? It’s a hoax to facilitate global governance by the thoroughly-corrupted UN. Miss T, Tolga I’ve had a gutful of political correctness here and overseas. But the new female Doctor Who must take the cake. Just like the new all-powerful Jedi Knight in the new Star Wars movie, is also a female, the elite and Hollywood just keep pushing this agenda down our throat. I’m sick of it. Get me off this planet. The Black Adder, Mt Sheridan Over the last 2000 years the persecution of Christians has been intense. Fed to lions, nailed to crosses, heads lopped off and now run over. So where are all the “lone wolf” attackers avenging the way Christians have been treated? Ponder that for a while. Higgs, Tolga Re: Karen Mounsey, Taipans board secretary (CP, 26/12). Is that the reason for Sobey, Craig, Stendil, Young, Trice, Bruce and many more good players leaving the Cairns Taipans club? Having a head coach for nine years and no grand finals wins yet. Time for a new CEO and head coach. You’re going down the same path as the Townsville Crocodiles with their members walking out on the club. Taipans member, Cairns Really. Attacks on our brave police/hospital/ambulance/firies etc. These crimes should be a mandatory jail term of three years first offence, no parole and triple each time for habitual low-life thugs. Icarus, Atherton. Re: Reader (CP, 26/12). Maybe now you might understand why the Premier of southeast Queensland reverted to preferential voting. Woody, Atherton Re: Reader. If you actually gave your first preference in any election to the One Nation Party, then you should automatically abrogate your right to vote in the future. Best you leave these things to the grown ups. Seb, Cairns
