Reminder: District Competition Nominations required for Fours, Triples, pairs and singles by due dates.2018 State District Sides Comp to be held Wednesday May 9 th to Saturday May 13 th at Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast. Nominations will close with the TFNQDBA Secretary (Mal Mackney) on Sunday 11 th February. TFNQ District Bowls Nominations are now called for the 2018 district open championships in singles, pairs & fours to be held in January and February as detailed below the fours sectional play will be played @ West Cairns and Marlin Coast Bowls Clubs on Saturday 20th January 2017 and post sectional play will be at Marlin Coast on Sunday 21st January. PAIRS SECTIONAL PLAY WILL BE PLAYED @ West Cairns and Marlin Coast Bowls Clubs ON 3rd & 4TH FEBRUARY 2017 with Marlin Coast to host the finals. Any overflow of nominations in sectional play will be played at Atherton or Mossman Singles will be played as sectional on Saturday. 11TH FEBRUARY @ Atherton and Mossman Clubs. With overflow games to be played at West Cairns and Marlin Coast. Post Sectional/final play will be at Mossman Club. In Singles, Sections will consist of 3 players. A draw will be completed on the day of play, prior to the commencement of play. All players are required to mark the games in their section if they are not playing. After the first game, the winner shall have the secondround bye. IF extra time is required to finalise the championships the weekend of 17th and 18th February has been set aside. As per TFNQDBA Selections policy and Council directions, selectors are to consider form of players competing in the District Championships when selecting the District Sides and it is expected that players wanting to be considered for District Sides will nominate for these Championships. NOMINATION FEES; SINGLES; $10-00 per player PAIRS; $20-00 per team FOURS; $40-00 per team Play in pairs, fours and singles will be sectional play for the first round and post sectional play will be knockout. Clubs will be issued with a copy of the conditions of play. Team members do not have to be members of the same club and dress is approved bowls attire as per Bowls Australia policy. West Cairns TPI Memorial Bowls Club Next Monday (8th January) will mark the commencement of our club playing year and we look forward to seeing all our bowlers and any registered lawn bowl players or visiting bowlers interested in playing social mixed bowls under the covered green at West Cairns Bowls Club in Gatton St. After the passing of all of our original TPI veterans since the first World War, the club has had its title altered to a memorial club and membership is now open to any player. Our membership ranges in age from younger players with some members over eighty years old still being active players. The game commences at 1.30pm each Monday and concludes at 4.30pm with a break for afternoon tea about 3.00pm. As the green is fully covered the game is not usually weather affected except in extreme circumstances and the green is also lit. Cost of membership is $10.00 per year in addition to the normal yearly membership charged by your parent club. Names of participants can be advised to our selector Rosemary on phone 40360624 before 11.30am next Monday or names can be recorded on the sheet available at the club. The final time for nominations is 1.00pm so the player selection can be completed before 1.15pm when the cards are called. We look forward to seeing you all on Monday. The Mens 2018 Shield season kicks off next Saturday, 06 January 2018, with the first round of the Ivan Granich Memorial Shield at home – teams: M Greenwood, L Maxton, G Morton, P Mulkearns (Skip); F Rich, A Petersen, G Spicer, B Wright (Skip). Play starts at 1pm, be there by 12.30pm, club uniform required. Would be good to see GBC supporters come along and cheer their team on. More names are required from the men for the Sam Rinaudo Shield to be played on the Australia Day weekend – put your name up on the board at the club, or leave a phone message at the club, if you’d like to be considered – nine players required for pairs, triples and fours.
