CAIRNS Regional Council defines touting as publicisin­g a business, commercial, trade or activity to another person, either verbally or with a publicatio­n. It is prohibited on council land including footpaths (as well as footpaths in front of shop entrances), public seating areas, transport precincts and facilities such as the Esplanade, Fogarty Park and Barlow Park.

Man to face court

A HOLLOWAYS Beach man accused of fleeing from a stolen car before being found in possession of various drugs has appeared in court. Aiden Roy, 34, is facing three counts of unlawful possession of restricted drugs, two counts of possessing dangerous drug, and one count each of unlawful possession of controlled drug, possess utensils or pipes for use, receiving tainted property, unlawful use of motor vehicles and possession of a knife in a public place. He was arrested by officers on Lissner Cres in Earlville on Sunday night. He is due to return to court in March.

Cardwell morning tea

THE Cassowary Coast Regional Council will host morning tea on Thursday to welcome potential new volunteers to the Cardwell Visitor and Heritage Centre. Held at 58 Victoria St, Cardwell, the morning tea will start at 10am. People from all walks of life who are passionate about the region are encouraged to join.

Learn to sail

REGISTRATI­ONS have opened for a dinghy sailing course being held by Cairns Yacht Club from next month. Australia Day golf

HALF Moon Bay Golf Club will celebrate Australia Day with a special golf event on Sunday, January 28. Registrati­on has opened for the event, which runs from 7.30am-12.30pm. The cost is $20 per person.
