Annabelle is clearly on the up and making the most of a semester of academy training after hitting 77 off the stick at Cairns Golf Club on Saturday.
The 16-year-old participated in the Greg Norman Junior Masters last year, where she improved 28 shots on 2016, but the weekend’s outing with dad Trevor and grandad Cyril was a much more laid-back affair, which ultimately had her giving them lessons.
“It was a bit more casual than normal, just out with my dad and grandad. I did have my best score I ever had though – 77 off the stick, which is 70 nett – so that’s exciting,” she said.
“Maybe I’m better than Grandad but my dad is still better than me at the moment.
“Having fun definitely makes it easier to play.”
The score is a huge notch on her belt going into the new year, and the Australian titles in Perth in April are now in her sights in a remarkable rise after first picking up a club less than two years ago.
Annabelle has been making the most of casual rounds in the Far North over the festive season with her new-found skills from the Hills Golf Academy in Brisbane, where she will return later this month.
“That’s definitely helped me a lot,” she said of the program.
