Climb like an Egyptian

-

YOU don’t need to walk like an Egyptian to hike Cairns’ famous pyramid.

Walsh’s Pyramid is a challenging hike that is best done during the cooler season in the middle of the year.

The 6km round trip up and down Gordonvale’s landmark takes up to six hours. The track is steep and rocky with stunted vegetation that offers no shade.

But you are rewarded with a stunning 360 degree view at the summit.

Take plenty of water, wear sunscreen and a hat and start the walk in the morning.

From Cairns, drive 25km south along the Bruce Highway, past Gordonvale. About 800m south of the Mulgrave River bridge, turn right on to Moss Rd.

Follow the signs along the gravel road to the carpark where the walking track begins.
