Bryant pumped to bring home three winners

- JORDAN GERRANS

CAIRNS greyhound One Pump turned around some indifferent recent form to claim the 410m All Wheel Drive Atherton race at Cannon Park on Friday night.

The Emma Bryant-trained chaser had been knocking on the door of a breakthrough win in recent weeks and got there on Friday evening, finishing the fastest ahead of Karma’s Time and Miss Lardie Da.

One Pump jumped smartly from box four and after running fourth last start, found the line first in the straight ahead of the small five-greyhound field.

As it often is, it was veteran trainer and former Cairns Greyhound Club president Bryant’s night at Cannon Park.

The Bryant kennel took home three of the five races on the card as Libby’s Hero made it two victories in a row in the first event of the night before Hara’s Flyer was too sharp in the last race.

“It was a good night,” Bryant said.

“The dogs were running fast, which is great.”

Local bookmaker Jeffrey Down, who owns Hara’s Flyer and One Pump, said it was a top night for Bryant-trained greyhounds.

“Emma always has her dogs going well and that was on show on Friday night,” Down said.

In the other two races on Friday, Robert Lound and George Tsakissiris trained winners.

Greyhound racing returns to Cannon Park on Friday night.
