Bargain at any price, but half is better

LOCALS can jump aboard the Kuranda Scenic Railway for just half the usual price this Australia Day.

Adults can buy a ticket from Cairns to Kuranda for $25, while children can travel from Cairns to Kuranda for just $12.50.

Member for Barron River Craig Crawford said it was a terrific opportunit­y to experience one of Australia’s most “iconic” railway journeys.

“I’d like to encourage residents of Cairns and surroundin­g areas to take advantage of the national holiday and experience all that the Kuranda Scenic Railway has to offer,” Mr Crawford said.

Member for Cairns Michael Healy said the trip was an exciting way for people of all ages to explore and celebrate the Cairns region.

Kanimbla Roods-Smith LOW PRICE resident said she Lucy had been on the train once before and was looking forward to seeing the sights again.

“Being a local, there’s so many tourists attraction­s that you just don’t really get to see,” she said.

“It’s a different way to see Cairns.”

Residents living in Cairns and the surroundin­g areas north to the Daintree, south to Cardwell, and west to the Tablelands can take advantage of the sale. LOW PRICE LOW PRICE The trip will take passengers past four waterfalls, including Stoney Creek Falls and Barron Falls, with a 15-minute stop at Barron Falls National Park. A free Australia Day sausage sizzle will also be on offer for railway passengers, along with entertainm­ent from an Aussie bush band, temporary tattoos and lamingtons.
