Course set for family fun

- JORDAN GERRANS

For Cairns father and son Ky and Craig Rankin there is not much better than 18 holes of golf. The 16-year-old, who plays from a handicap of 13, and his old man, who plays from six, were on course at Cairns Golf Club on Saturday afternoon. “The golf club is a fantastic atmosphere for fathers and sons to go have a round together,” Craig said.

“It is a great opportunity for younger guys to spend time and learn from people older than them in those type of environments.

“Ky has been there for 10 years now and come through the junior side of it all which is great that Cairns offers that.

“I hit them pretty well on Saturday while Ky did not have his best day but it is all about enjoying the challenge of trying to get your handicap down.”

Craig said the Woree-based club held up beautifully despite the heavy rain around the Far North over the past week or so.

“The course looked great,” he said. FNQ Golf Results will be in tomorrow’s edition of the Cairns Post
