CAMERON White will jet into Melbourne today in time to captain the Renegades against Adelaide Strikers tonight – just 24 hours after batting at No.3 for Australia at the SCG.

White replaces veteran Brad Hodge as skipper with the Renegades out to secure just their second finals berth in club history.

Hodge yesterday played down the grudge match element despite five Renegades preparing to face their former side tonight.

Former Test quick Peter Siddle went the other way, crossing to the Strikers from the Renegades this summer.

“There’s no grudges at all, especially when you’re 43. I loved Adelaide,” Hodge said.

“I still speak frequently to Ben Laughlin and Jono Dean.”

Hodge was sacked as Strikers captain in the change rooms just moments after their final match last season while Kane Richardson and Tim Ludeman also crossed to the red team this summer.

South Australian and Renegades batsman Tom Cooper played the first BBL season at the Strikers and West Indies import Kieron Pollard has also featured for the blue team.

Pollard will make his Renegades debut tonight, wearing number 00 on his back.

Pollard replaces Mohammad Nabi as the Renegades’ second international signing and Hodge would not reveal yesterday who would take the new ball in spinner Nabi’s absence.

“It’s a big game. We probably need one more win and there’s been a few results which have gone our way,” Hodge said.

“I’ve reneged on the captaincy and given it back to Cam, which is good. We missed his leadership last game. He’d been playing so well for the Renegades.”

White was averaging 142.5 for the Renegades before his shock call-up to Australia’s ODI squad.

Cricket Australia also released Strikers captain Travis Head and keeper Alex Carey, who touched down in Melbourne yesterday.

Opener Aaron Finch was not released to play for the Renegades tonight after notching two taxing centuries in the first two ODI losses to England.

The 4-3 Renegades have dropped their past two matches and not played in 10 days due to a quirk in the fixture.

Hodge missed the last game with a rib injury and said he would’ve missed multiple games if not for the break.

The ’Gades play three games this week, including the final game of the season against Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on Saturday night.

The Strikers have built their game around Afghan Rahid Khan although they will lose him to international duty for the final should they make it.

THERE’S NO GRUDGES AT ALL, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU’RE 43. I LOVED ADELAIDE BRAD HODGE
