On Australia Day

-

Reasons some should call 26/1 Thankful Day. (1) No civil wars yet. (2) Medical care for all. (3) Workers forced to pay ‘wages & ‘housing’ for those not interested in working in their whole life. (4) Laws to appease & pay refugees more benefits than aged pensioners. (5) Disruptive religion allowed. (6) Crims given kid glove treatment. (7) People gagged from calling it the way it is. (8) No Japanese occupation in 1940s. Reader, Cairns

Buck, Gordonvale

Looks like it’s time to cut the taxpayer funding to the Yarrabah Shire Council. Greg, Cairns CBD

There will never be reconciliation – the divisions will only grow further apart when attitudes like the Greens and the Yarrabah council prevail. Do what you will but if you want to live in peace and harmony, it will not happen while current views prevail. Bazza, Mareeba
