Gliddon to be Snake for life

- JORDAN GERRANS

Cameron Gliddon has given a strong indication his future remains in the Far North following the current NBL season. The skipper (above), who has been with the Taipans since 2012, is out of contract and has enjoyed a strong season, highlighted by his outstanding free throw percentage, not missing from the charity stripe all campaign. CAMERON Gliddon has given a strong indication his future remains in the Far North following the current NBL season.

The skipper, who has been with the Taipans since 2012, is out of contract and has enjoyed a strong season, highlighted by his outstanding free throw percentage, not missing from the charity stripe all campaign.

The shooting guard has also been one of the leading snipers from deep in the NBL this sea- son, hitting the three ball at 43 per cent.

In March 2015, Gliddon resigned with the Taipans on a three-year deal, which will expire at the end of the current campaign.

If the 28-year-old was to stay in orange, a fresh deal would go close to making him a Taipan for life, playing his entire NBL career at the one club.

With the Snakes’ well-documented spending constraints, Gliddon said money would not be a key factor when deciding his playing future this year.

“When it comes to the time when I decide where I am going to play and stay or leave, it does not just come down to the money for me,” he said on the Aussie Hoopla podcast.

“I think it comes down to the role, my teammates, location and a lot of things.

“I am probably not going to enjoy getting paid more and sitting on the bench and playing five minutes a game, maybe that is me being selfish about wanting to play. It comes down to a lot more things than just money and that is what will come into play.

“There is a lot more to it than that.” The Taipans play Perth on Friday night.
