Tradies working as team

- ALICIA NALLY AND JANESSA EKERT

TWO of the region’s most passionate refrigeration mechanics and electricians have joined forces to start a business with capability to service anywhere from Cairns to Cape York.

Results Refrigeration and Electrical consists of refrigeration and airconditioning mechanic Dave Wight and electrician Rick Garland who had been running into each other on job sites for more than a decade.

“We met out of a common trade I guess. When you’re working in one industry you’re usually running across others in a similar industry,” Mr Wight said.

“Over the years we had a need for each other work-wise and on job sites we ran into each other – mostly on construction sites around Port Douglas.

“We’d had our eye on this for a little while. The time was just right for us.”

Mr Garland started LNG Electrical in 2015 but the business was rebranded in 2016 ready for Mr Wight to join the business.

“It’s just been a bit of a progressive thing. The idea was always there but the timing didn’t seem right,” Mr Wight said. “It’s been good. I’ve been out on the streets trying to come up with work in different areas.

“We’re still getting phone calls from former customers as far back as 2005 and we still have some of our loyal customers. We do domestic, commercial and industrial jobs but we have gone away from the marine stuff. We are also having luck at the moment getting a look in at some of the resorts being built around the area.

“All our vehicles are 4WDs so we are capable of running anywhere up in the Cape.”
