Dogs are back on

Plenty of chances as Cairns racing returns

- LEE PEARCE

GREYHOUNDS AFTER a fortnight’s break, Cairns Greyhound Club is back with racing tonight at Cannon Park with a five-race program.

Race 3 is the Gordy and Beryl Skinner 4/5th Grade over the 410m.

This is an even race with Feral Cheral (2) for Robert Lound, who has had four starts here for four wins and a PB of 23.88, loving this track.

She will be hard to run down on the bunny.

Burner Bant (8) for George Tsakissiris is a very consistent greyhound and should run a bold race.

Cabaret Tonight (1) for Rhonda Essery has drawn well and gets her chance tonight.

Bundy Cutter (3) for Lound has had three starts here for a second, ran third in Townsville on Tuesday night over 380m and should be right up there.

Race 4 is the Mick and Margaret Gauci 3/4th Grade over the 410m.

There are a few chances in this race.

Top Teller (1) for Emma Bryant has been the bridesmaid for her last few starts and gets her chance to turn the tables.

Casey Mini Me (3) is a youngster with great box manners and should lead this field after she raced on Tuesday night and led most of the way to get beaten by kennelmate Maury Spirit, who will run another bold race.

Universal One (3) for Kerry Griffin ran a good race over the 498m on Tuesday night and is back to the sprint tonight. He can begin on his night and could be the dark horse in the race.

Race 5 is the Ron and Beryl Moon Best 8 over the 410m.

Cairns greyhound of the year Hara’s Flyer (4) for Bryant will start favourite in this race but she will not have it all her own way with Temnick (3) for Essery a threat.

Temnick loves the track and seems to grow an extra leg up here. He will be a big danger to the favourite.

Bruton Miss (6) for Lound has been freshened up and has good box speed at the jump.

She will be the other big danger to the favourite.

Manhattan Maid (2) for Allan Metcalfe loves the rail and should run a bold race.

The first race of five will kick off at Cannon Park at 7pm.
