Top trio right on money
I WAS sitting courtside to the Cairns Taipans’ win the other day over the Perth Wildcats and my main takeaway was the three starting guards are about to double their money.
I was extremely impressed with the three-guard line-up of Jarrad Weeks, Cameron Gliddon and Mitch McCarron (above).
All three are playing like they are about to get a big increase – double their money – in their contracts from this season to next.
All three are out of contract so there is money to be made.
They came out like they were the home team trying to clinch second place.
They look really good and I respect them a lot.
They do not have big names, they are not playing on a big-budget team and they are not playing in a major city.
But that is not stopping them getting the job done.
McCarron is my pick for the most improved player in the NBL this season.
I am thoroughly impressed by him.
Gliddon is a big-time shooter and that showed in the final minute of the game.
Weeks, or Agent 97 as I like to call him, was great.
These three are are set for a big pay day and that is how you earn it – big-time performances and prove that you are worth that money.
On Friday night in Perth, the stage could not have been any bigger.
Perth needed that win to clinch second and Cairns came in and busted their ass.
People keep saying: “I can’t believe Perth lost that game.” Why? Teams are not scared of the Wildcats anymore. They only have Bryce Cotton and J. P. Tokoto stepping up every week – it is not hard to beat them.
And I see Cairns doing it again this Sunday night.
The Wildcats will go all out on Friday night in Melbourne against United and then have to travel all the way back to Western Australia.
The Taipans, however, have been planning, scouting and resting all week ready for the one game. The Snakes can make it two in a row.
