Winning changes everything

-

LOOKING back on Sunday’s win against Wellington, I was very happy with the Western Sydney Wanderers boys’ performance and in a nutshell, that’s exactly how coach Josep Gombau wants us to play.

Winning changes everything – it changes the mood of the group, the atmosphere, the happiness of the fans ... and that’s what we want; we want the club to be together, to celebrate as one.

Winning definitely breeds confidence so hopefully that can continue against Newcastle tonight.

It was also great to get on the scoresheet last week – they don’t come too often.

A lot of people have been asking me about my celebration. It was a tribute to an Aboriginal dance company in Cairns called Tjapukai.

Growing up in Cairns, it’s a very important region to me and the dance company represents the mountains in the region.

The wobbly wet legs are a bit hard on the knees but it’s just a way of showing my happiness. Besides, I don’t think enough players celebrate these days so maybe the old boys can show the young guys how.

We’ve got two big games in a row, with Newcastle tonight and Sydney FC next week, so they’re both going to be massive tests for us.

We’re starting to build a bit of momentum and it’s time for us to step it up another level.
