Science forum has winning formula

-

IF YOU are in Year 11 and have a strong interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), then I recommend applying for the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF).

It is the experience of a lifetime for young scientists.

Last year, I applied for the program by completing an expression of interest on their website (nysf.edu.au). My application was successful.

I attended Session C of the 2018 program at the Australian National University in Canberra. The program went for 11 days and 200 students participated.

The days were jam-packed with activities and I can honestly say this was one of the best experiences of my life.

The activities in the program included meeting world-leading scientists, attending lab visits, making lifelong relationships with new friends, making new connections with universities, attending inspiring talks, visiting partnering facilities including CSIRO and semiformal nights.

The major highlight for me was connecting with people all around Australia with similar interests, gaining an insight into university life and meeting highly intelligent scientists.

I also learnt about the valuable involvement that Rotary has in the NYSF, in our community, throughout Australia and the world.

I would like to give a huge thank you to the Mareeba Rotary for your support with my attendance at the program.

If you are in Year 11, head to the NYSF website and submit an expression of interest.
