Young talent set to put on a show

- LEE PEARCE

GREYHOUND racing returns to the Townsville Showgrounds tonight with a 10-race program.

Race two is the Brooke Heath Novice over 380m, featuring a good field of youngsters with Dalmatynski (1, Joan Newnham) having his third start.

He won his maiden from this box in 22.27 and will be a big danger to the favourite, Rockin’ Ringo (3, Robert Lound), who won his maiden last week from box eight in 22.03 by a big margin.

He can explode from the boxes, has drawn close to the rails and will be hard to beat.

Billy Bojangles (8, Matthew McGuire) is having his first start on this track and is very lightly raced with six starts.

Race five is the Dan The Painter Man fourth-fifth grade over 380m and the favourite will be the Rhonda Essery-trained Licorice Shot (5).

He is an up-and-coming youngster who has the talent and ability to reach top grade.

He ran a very smart 21.89 (BON) last week and will be very hard to beat.

Race eight is the Bohle Barn Hotel Motel First/Second Grade over 380m.

This is a good-quality field of free-for-all dogs, and Lound has three runners.

Nova Party (1) ran second last week from box eight after being out for a couple of months. He will strip fitter for the run and is ideally drawn.

Bundy Cutter (2) won here last week from box five in 21.98 and has drawn well.

Mr. Merve (3) also won here last week, can begin from the jump and should lead.

Meanwhile, Innocent Man (6) has had three runs back here since winning the Country to City in Brisbane for two placings and cannot be left out.
