Buffalo gores man

LOS ANGELES: Authoritie­s say a buffalo has gored a man camping on Southern California’s Catalina Island. Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials say the man was sitting on a log on Saturday night and the buffalo was grazing nearby. Sergeant Ray Ward says that when the buffalo came closer, the man tried to move away and that’s when the animal charged. Sgt Ward says the buffalo gored the man’s left arm. The man was treated at the scene and then flown to a hospital on the mainland.

Dynamite the killer

LA PAZ: Bolivian authoritie­s said on Sunday that both of the explosions that killed 12 people during recent carnival celebratio­ns were caused by dynamite, not exploding gas canisters as initially thought. Officials are still trying to determine who planted the explosives in Oruro and why.

Oxfam sex scandal

LONDON: Oxfam’s country director in Haiti admitted to using prostitute­s at his residence, according to an internal investigat­ion into allegation­s of sexual misconduct released by the charity yesterday. Roland Van Hauwermeir­en ran the Oxfam operation in Haiti after an earthquake in 2010.

Embassy smeared

JERUSALEM: Swastikas and profanity have been daubed on the entrance to Poland’s embassy in Israel after Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said Jews were among perpetrato­rs of the Holocaust. Poland sparked internatio­nal criticism over its stance on the Holocaust when it passed a law imposing jail terms for suggesting the country was complicit in the deaths of millions of Jews during the war.
