AUSTRALIA head to Port Elizabeth 1-0 up in the series but engulfed in a bitter war of words with South Africa, after Nathan Lyon found himself in the spotlight, reprimanded for contravening the spirit of cricket.
Lyon has apologised to AB de Villiers over his bizarre send-off of the South African great, with relations threatening to boil over amid footage emerging of David Warner and Quinton de Kock in an altercation.
Man of the match Mitchell Starc missed out on his hattrick but Australia wasted little time in knocking over the last wicket required to secure a comprehensive 118-run win.
“The reversing ball is going alright this season,” Starc said. “It was nice to put a couple in the right spot.”
Josh Hazlewood got the man at the centre of the storm, de Kock, trapped lbw for 83.
Players shook hands after the match – including Warner and de Kock – but it’s understood there is little respect between the two outfits.

Match referee Jeff Crowe had no hesitation in slapping Lyon with a level one offence meaning he will be fined a percentage of his match fee and a demerit point.
Lyon reached out to de Villiers to apologise after play and explained he didn’t intend any malice.
The off-spinner, who had no prior marks on his record, accepted the charge and will be free to play in the second Test in Port Elizabeth.
There is no word yet from the referee on whether action will be taken against Warner for his part in the celebration of de Villiers’ dismissal and his latter explosive exchange with de Kock in the players’ race.
Former Test great Adam Gilchrist said Lyon’s actions were at the very least, cheeky.
“It looked odd, it looked like an unnatural part of any celebration and probably a little bit cheeky,” Gilchrist said.
