The Cairns Post

On other matters

Darren Howie (CP, 10/3). If you want to compare the lack of funding Cairns gets from the Brisbane government to a footy game it goes like this: the goalposts are mobile; there’s five players (MPs) at the Cairns end of the field and sixty-five at the Brisbane end, and the umpire is the Brisbane team captain. That’s why we always lose. Stuff those rules. We need a separate state. Higgs, Tolga Why bother putting on a stack hat and not clipping it up? Idiots. Beth, Kanimbla Can someone please tell me how a sovereign country (US) fully nuclear armed can demand that another sovereign country (North Korea) not be nuclear armed. Surely what’s good for one ... Toby, Edge Hill Steve, Cairns (WP,10/3). This is not their natural habitat. We could swim on beaches and all water holes back in the 1950s as there was no crocodiles. Now you can’t swim anywhere. True local, Mount Sheridan The energy market has not “turned its back” on coal, as a result of natural market forces, Atticus (WP, 10/3). The current energy market debacle is entirely the fault of green policies based on phoney global warming alarmism. Get renewables’ subsidies out of the market and coal is the automatic winner every single time. Woz, Parramatta Park Gav (WP, 10/3). If unions are needed to keep businesses honest, why do public sector unions exist? Do unions believe the government is a dishonest employer? Since unions are a training ground for ALP politicians, does this mean that union standards result in dishonest ALP governments? How does that benefit the workers? Mic, Cairns Donald Trump’s latest deal with Australia of security and metals just rings of Australia being the US lapdog in the next war that the US decides to go into and drag us along as they do since LBJ’s days. When will we learn to say no. The US is the most violent place in the world as far as I can see. Jen, Cairns What happened with the Northern Pride game on Saturday was farcical. I understand Barlow was unplayable and the club tried all they could but why were they made to play the game in Brisbane and how did the QRL allow this to happen with 24 hours notice when the game could have been played later in the season on a bye weekend. Hope this doesn’t affect the Pride later in the season. Scottie, Bayvew Heights
