Beachfront luxury with a winning edge

-

THIS coconut palm-fringed haven is just 10 minutes from Port Douglas and produces the best rental returns in real estate agent Mark Flinn’s experience.

The three-bedroom home, called Ocean’s Edge, was booked out more than 250 nights last year with a gross return of $170,000.

Mr Flinn said the house, priced at $2.2 million, was the best income earning holiday property he’d seen in his 17 years of selling in the area.

“It shows you how popular it is from the high return. This also indicates that it is a well loved beachfront home that is perfect,” Mr Flinn said.

“The other good thing with the house is the first floor and wet edge pool are elevated so you get better views of the ocean from throughout the living and entertaining and pool area.”

Ocean’s Edge is one of only a handful of absolute beachfront properties along this sandy stretch of the Coral Sea.

The property has been owned by Sydney-based Sioned Rees Thomas for the last 10 years.

Ms Rees Thomas is the founder and managing director of Boutique Retreats, a company that rents unique properties in extraordinary locations.

“Ocean’s Edge Retreat in Oak Beach has unquestionably been my most loved rental property in Australia,” she said. “The extraordinary absolute beachfront location has ensured this premium property has been in very high demand by Australian and international guests with many repeat clients.”

Ms Rees Thomas said she was increasingly spending time in Europe and South Africa on business so the time was right to sell.

The elevated living space and infinity wet edge pool frame an endless water view across the sea and allows for the ocean breezes to flow through the canopy of swaying palm trees and into the home.

Guests can sleep in any of three private bedroom suites each with ensuite bathrooms.
