Karl on sea of love

THE TODAY HOST AND JASMINE YARBROUGH HAVE HELD A COMMITMENT CEREMONY AT PALM BEACH

TO CEMENT their love for one another, Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough held a commitment ceremony in Palm Beach over the weekend. However the move left many fans asking, why not have an actual wedding ceremony?

The Cairns Post can reveal that despite reports suggesting it was because Stefanovic was not yet divorced from his ex wife Cassandra Thorburn, that’s not the case.

“Karl has been legally divorced for around six months,” a source said, adding, it was not yet known whether the couple will have a wedding down the track.

“We will have to wait and see,” the source said.

Saturday’s commitment ceremony, which is not legally binding, was held at a private house in Sydney’s Palm Beach with the Today show star saying afterwards: “We are very much in love.

“We clicked right from the start. It’s a commitment ceremony. It was lovely.”

It’s believed less than 20 guests attended the ceremony.

Among the guests were Stefanovic’s youngest children Ava, 13, and River, 11, who were surprised by the ceremony.

Karl’s eldest son Jackson, 18, did not attend.

Another source revealed one of the reasons the couple decided to have a commitment ceremony was out of respect for the children.

“Commitment ceremonies are a good way to involve children and families in a nonformal way,” a source said.

Sylvia Jeffreys took to the breakfast show yesterday morning to talk about the “beautiful” event. “Very small day, very low-key affair but really beautiful and very them,” Jeffreys said on air.

“Very full of love and full of laughter, and a very special occasion for the two.”

Jeffreys’s husband, Peter Stefanovic, appeared on Weekend Today the morning after the ceremony and said: “We had ourselves a little barbecue, a few XXXX Golds, Karl burnt the snags, usual.”

It’s also believed there will be no official honeymoon for the couple, with Stefanovic flying overseas yesterday for an assignment with 60 Minutes.

News Corp announced that Stefanovic and Yarbrough were engaged in February, after having met in December 2016.
