Clocking on for our top read

AT St Francis Xavier’s we do an educational and fun activity called Rock the Clock.

Did we hear you ask why? Well, Rock the Clock can help to improve a child’s addiction to reading entertaining books.

What we like about Rock the Clock is that it can teach young children to read for longer periods of time.

It also helps children in many ways like being able to read longer and thicker books.

Anyone can do this activity at home. What you will need: A timer and a book or two. It just environment free from the harmful effects of littering.

Not only is this an enjoyable story for students it is also a resource to teach us about conserving our environment.

The great book launch coincided with Clean Up depends how long or short the book is.

What do you do: You will need to set a time on your timer (we suggest one minute to start with, then work your way up with your set time) then you start reading your book for that period of time each session.

So try Rock the Clock at home and then you will realise how great it can be.

Who knows, you might even see a book at the breakfast table every morning.

We love Rock the Clock. Australia Day on March 4.

We, TAS junior journalists, had the opportunity to practice our interviewing skills with a series of questions asked in a mock-up talkback show, Talking Books.
