There’s a squad or club for every pupil

By Madelyn Lloyd, Year 6, Holy Cross School

-

COME on boys, give me 10 and then we’re going for a jog.

This is Madelyn Lloyd in the Reporters and Photographers Club at the Holy Cross Boys Club Friday activities.

The Boys Club this year is a group of Year 5 and 6 students who work with Mr Chris Hudson and Mr Till DunnOswald and they do a variety of fitness and building activities.

Every Friday afternoon Year 5 and 6 students join together in their service and outreach clubs.

Along with the Boy’s Club there are The Student Council, The Kindness Crew, The Justice Squad, The Reporters and Photographers Club, The Playground and Prayer Guardians Club, The Environmental Club and the Arts and Craft Club.

And the best thing is that we have just started, we’re three weeks in and students are loving it.

We love it, too, because of the great staff who are involved with each group.

Everyone is happy and some are really excited about what their group is doing.

The Arts Club for example is painting a school mural in our eating area. How cool is that.

When I found out I was in the Reporters Club I was over the moon.

I love it because, with my Year 5 teacher Marg Judd, we are learning photography and we also get to write reports on the many activities going on in classrooms all over the school.

The service and outreach groups are new in 2018 although some of the clubs have been around for a long time. We have added new ones, like The Kindness Crew, and we do them every Friday afternoon.
