ONLY hours remain to grab tickets for the last basketball clashes in Cairns for the Commonwealth Games.

The mens’ qualifying finals are at the convention centre tonight, following Australia’s pool game against Nigeria and New Zealand’s clash against Canada last night.

Australia’s Boomers beat the New Zealand Tall Blacks in a close game on Saturday and are likely to win a spot in the semi-finals on the Gold Coast.

The rivals were drawn at 71all with three minutes to the buzzer but Australia pulled away for a 79-73 victory.

Limited tickets remain for tonight’s games.

In the meantime Festival Cairns continues its avalanche of artistic offerings this week and a feast of international music will serenade the Cairns Esplanade tonight.

African and Japanese drumming and Caribbean beats will play on the Live Site main stage before King Social headlines at 8.30pm.

The Townsville band blends hip hop, soul and new age.

Fans of visual arts will not miss out as student and experienced local artists have joined creative forces for Big Design. The students, age 15 to 17, have worked alongside artists who helped develop and design their installation pieces for the outdoor gallery at the Live Site.

Big Design provides a pathway for young people to learn about creating concepts for public artworks.

The experienced local artists assisted with the development, design, fabrication and installation phases of the process.

UMI Arts on Sheridan St will continue its You and Me exhibition, featuring members’ works across different mediums.

Limited tickets are left for tonight’s games at the Cairns Convention Centre. Go to gc2018.com to purchase.
