AS the 2018 Commonwealth Games come to a close, the party isn’t over at the Cairns Esplanade. There’s plenty on at the final weekend of the festival and afterwards.
FESTIVAL 2018 FINALE
The last leg will have something for everyone, with family friendly activities and live performances to close out the Commonwealth Games.
Tomorrow will start with Sahaja yoga meditation from 7.30-8.30am, “Spart” workshops (where sport meets art) from 10am, Art-Tivity kids activities from 11am and live performances from noon into the evening. Breakout Torres Strait Island rapper Mau Power will close out the entertainment.
On Sunday, family activities will run again through the day leading to the final live performances from 4pm, culminating with top ska and jazz band, The Cat Empire.
HIT UP THE MARKETS
Markets are always running at the Esplanade, every Saturday, 8am-4pm, by the Lagoon. The Esplanade Markets showcase local, quality products from contemporary jewellery, leather work, pottery and clothes.
Across the road at 54-60 Abbott Street, duck into the Cairns Night Markets.
HAVE A MEAL OUT
Close out the end of the Games with a beer and a feed at one of the Esplanade’s many restaurants and bars. Rattle ‘n Hum Bar and Grill, in the heart of the Esplanade has tasty meals and a laid-back atmosphere.
Further along the Esplanade, Vivaldi’s Restaurant has international food and a great location. If you’re on a budget, the Esplanade has you covered with food stalls at the Cairns Night Markets between Abbott St and the Esplanade.
