City will need to be at top for road trip

-

WITH the Roar having such a terrible start to the season and hot and cold performances, it’s actually a surprise that they even made it to the finals.

On Friday night, the Roar were well off the pace and had City been more clinical in front of goal the scoreline could’ve looked a lot different.

With the pace of Arzani and the craft of Vidosic and Fornaroli it looks like City are hitting their peak at the right time and they will need to be against the with Zenon Caravella Newcastle Jets this weekend.

With already close to 11,000 members tickets sold before being open to the public you can expect there to be a bumper home crowd.

Newcastle is one of the most difficult places to travel and get a result especially on nights like this, should be a fantastic game.

■ Melbourne Victory are a huge club and they have huge expectations.

Despite also having an average season they have found themselves one game away from the grand finals.

On Sunday against a very good Adelaide side it was once again left to the big guns to do the damage.

The moment that sent the fans into delirium was left for the one and only Besart Berisha.

With sections of the media writing the striker off he responded with a world-class bicycle kick to snatch the game in the final minutes.

Big players produce in decisive moments and he is one that Sydney will need to be very wary of this weekend.

■ It’s always interesting to see the movements at the end of the season. As was widely rumoured, Josep Gombau failed to convince the owners and fans that he was the right person to take the club forward and was duly sacked.

While this opens the door for the possible return of Tony Popovic, the club would be very wary of bringing in somebody who left for greener pastures on the eve of the season.

Perth Glory have also decided to part ways with Kenny Lowe. Expect there to be more big surprises in the coming weeks.
