Files reveal Apple’s secret

- Matthew Dunn

WE HAVE all heard about the secret menu at McDonald’s which includes the Land, Sea and Air Burger — a beef, chicken and Filet-O-Fish patty stacked in one bun.

While it might not sound like the tastiest snack, there is something fun about the mystery of a hidden menu.

It’s this love of clandestine products that makes news about Apple’s secret iPhone model so exciting.

Yes, you read that correct. Apple has a secret iPhone, although you won’t be able to purchase it like you can with the Monster Mac — a classic Big Mac with eight patties.

The mystery iPhone, never formally announced by Apple, has recently been revealed through newly declassified documents.

A filing with the United States Federal Communications Commission revealed Apple has produced a gold iPhone X — currently customers can only buy Silver and Space Grey.

After taking 180 days to become declassified, the filing was released with pictures of the model from multiple angles.

The document showed the gold device was created before the premium handset was announced last September — a period when Apple was rumoured to launch three colour options.

It’s unclear why Apple scrapped the colour, especially given it has offered gold colour options for other iPhone devices in the past.
