Happy Days at Royal Millaa Millaa for the Hugh and Robyn Trophy held in stroke format. Maybe more so Happy’s day with a round of golf belying his 17 handicap. The competition field was boosted by the presence of FNQ Golf’s Danny Bradley and his guest, Stephen Todd from Innisfail. If one thing can make Alan Hapgood play well, it is the chance to take the side bet off Danny. The course was in great order after a wet March, early April. The grounds staff are to be commended for presenting a picture perfect arena after such a difficult wet season. There were a few irregularly Bradman-esque scores recorded which may help others handicaps not being slashed but the runaway winner was Happy, shooting 77 off the bat for a 60 net. Second place was the inspirational Danny Bradley 68 net with Sols and The Flying Scotsman both on 69. NTP’s 1/10 and 8/17 Happy, Danny claiming 5/14 and Hugh’s longest putt 9/18 ( Contentious given he used a wedge to sink the ball on the green, but it was the only hole he and Toddy won all day ). The Dead Pool with the Ferrari continues to baffle all the punters with its 3rd round without a breakdown. A huge thanks to Hugh and Robyn. The pearls of wisdom and humor from our barman makes MMGC worthy of a visit from all golfers every Sunday. Next week sees the Malanda RSL / Falls Teahouse Monthly Medal.
