- DANAELLA WIVELL

KEEPING up-to-date with the news will be a breeze for Raphael Weber with a Cairns Post digital subscription and this Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet.

The traveller, originally from Switzerland, said he liked to use technology to stay on top of all the latest news.

“Having a tablet means you don’t have to buy a newspaper, so it’s much more convenient to read your news online,” he said. You can roam with the latest news, entertainment and sport at your fingertips.

For a limited time, get a Cairns Post digital subscription and eight-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A Wi-Fi tablet for $8 a week for the first 12 months (minimum cost $416).

The subscription covers more than just the Far North, with the whole News+ Network included.

This means access to Townsville Bulletin, The Courier-Mail, NT News, Herald Sun and Gold Coast Bulletin.

Conditions apply. Call 1800 170 323 or visit the website cairnspost.com.au/tablet. daily.

The dredging campaign is the first of a six-and-a-half year channel dredging commitment, at a total cost of $6.8 million.

It was negotiated between the State Government, Ports North, and New Century Resources – which is due to recommence shipping operations through Karumba from October.

The Port of Karumba is located at the mouth of the Norman River in the southeast corner of the Gulf of Carpentaria.
