Graham revels in forward move with six goals

CAIRNS Saints junior Caleb Graham’s draft stocks continue to rise after he kicked six goals for the Gold Coast Suns in under-18 Academy series win over the Northern Territory.

The promising teenager has made his name in the past few years as a key defender but was swung forward at the weekend and showed he could contribute at both ends of the ground.

Graham kicked six goals and had 22 possession­s in the 18.8 (116) — 4.3 (27) victory over the NT at Burpengary.

Fellow Far North juniors Tui Lowah and Fitzory Greenwool shared in three majors.

■ AFTER a few quiet weeks in the NEAFL, Jacob Heron was back among the Suns best in their loss to the Canberra Demons on Saturday after he picked up 18 touches.

The Suns lost 11.14 (80) to 7.9 (51) at Canberra Oval after taking minimal AFL listed players to the game.

Heron (pictured) was one of only a few AFL players who travelled as he was named third best on ground for the Suns in the loss.

Badu Island product Timakoi Bowie booted a goal. ■ A HAUL of 11 points and four assists from Cairns product Deba George could not stop a rampaging Ballarat Miners in Round 5 of the SEABL.

George, playing for Albury Wodonga, were blown out by the Miners 82-117 to drop their season record to 3-4.

George also grabbed four rebounds and two steals in the loss.

Former Taipan Tevin Jackson finished 13 points, two rebounds and three assists for Albury Wodonga.

They face Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence in the next round of fixtures.

■ MAREEBA’S Aron Baynes will be out to sweep Philadelph­ia this morning and advance to the Eastern Conference finals in the NBA.

The mastermind of Boston’s impressive 3-0 series lead is the Celtics’ 41-year-old head coach Brad Stevens.

Stevens’ tough crew have perfectly followed Stevens’ game plan.
