Savoury smoke, but no fire

-

IT was more smoky than spicy at Cairns restaurant Spicy Bite yesterday afternoon when firefighters responded to reports of a possible fire.

Turns out there was smoke, but no fire at the scene. Thankfully the alarm at the Indian restaurant on Shields Street about 3.30pm was only smoke caused by chicken cooking in a charcoal oven.

No staff were injured and the restaurant was closed at the time, with preparations for the dinner rush, prompting a quick response from Cairns firefighters.
