RE: Teen given probation for assaults (CP, 3/5). Once again a slap on the wrist for two violent assaults.

Lawyer says he has a “a minimal history of committing violent offences”. So he should have, he’s 17 for God’s sake.

He was sentenced to two years probation. Any other country and it would have been two years in the slammer. No wonder we are called the “lucky country”. We should be called Australia: the “soft backward country”. Kevin Huey, Innisfail
