Two killed as trains collide

AT LEAST two people died and 14 others were injured after a freight train and a passenger train collided in Bavaria.

The two fatalities have been identified as one of the train drivers and a passenger, while a spokesman says two of those injured have suffered serious injuries.

The two trains crashed into each other about 9.20pm (local time) on Monday on a single stretch of track near Aichach station on the route between Ingolstadt and Augsburg.

The trains were not derailed and the cause of the crash is not yet known.
