Officers investigate two more house fires

-

FIRE officers are investigating two house fires in the Far North yesterday.

One involved a Gordonvale home while the other was at East Trinity.

Crews will work today to determine the cause of a house fire on Fisher St at Gordonvale.

A family inside the home were forced to flee when the blaze took hold about 4pm yesterday.

Several fire crews were sent to the scene to contain and extinguish the fire.

Ambulance crews were also called but there were no injuries.

A second Far North home in a week was completely burnt out by a fire in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the fire on Giangurra Esplanade about 3.30am.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the home was “fully involved” when crews arrived.

She said the homeowners called 000 to report the fire.

Three fire crews, ambulance and police officers responded to the blaze.

“All people are safe,” the spokewoman said.

Fire investigators were at the scene yesterday to determine a cause.

There have been three house fires in the region in a week.

Terry Hall’s two-storey Trinity Beach home at Kiriwina Close was left gutted on Wednesday last week.

A fund has been launched to help raise money for Ms Hall who lost everything in the fire. “Her beloved, beautiful home and everything she owns was burnt to a cinder,” her daughter Meg Cashman said.
