GRAB the kids and experience Cairns night life with entomologi­st Dr David Rentz at a moth night, Cairns Botanic Gardens, 6pm-8pm, July 11. Large floodlit, white sheets attached to trees attract moths and other flying creatures for a close-up look. Meet at the visitor centre. Friends of Botanic Gardens members $5, non members $10.

Squishy circuits

USE homemade playdough to build electronic sculptures that light up, move and make sounds, Cairns Art Gallery, 10am-11.30am, Monday, July 2. By adding different ingredient­s to the dough, it becomes a fun part of a circuit. Ages 6-9. Cost: $24.

Electronic fashion

Sweet newcomers

SUGAR gliders have been introduced to a new exhibit at Kuranda’s Rainforest­ation in the koala and wildlife park. The gliders are nocturnal, so small LED lights have been added to the exhibit so visitors can see them, even when they are asleep during the day.
