Real estate agents find new home
SPURRED on by a “buoyant” property market, the agents at recently established Andrew Evan Real Estate have found a new home on Mulgrave Rd.
Rent City Property Management principal Kyle Olufson and operations manager Natiesha Olufson expanded into property sales as a way of increasing their offerings to clients.
The business started out of a house and staff then moved into an office on Lake St before moving to Westcourt.
Mrs Olufson said an opportunity came up to move next door and the pair took it.
“The office we previously had is now Andrew Evan,” she said. “It was pretty much a natural progression to move into sales. We always wanted to be property-focused. Just with the expansion, we’ve never bought a rent roll, just short of 500 properties.
“We wanted to offer a bit more to our landlords but we are two separate businesses.”
While bigger metropolitan centres down south have plenty of choice when it comes to property management companies, Mrs Olufson said there was not as much demand in Cairns.
“But I think we have seen a bit of a shift in that respect,” she said.
“Normally it is the other way around – starting in sales and then taking on property management. I guess we wanted to build and establish that property management company first. It is very important, we find.
“We’re in a bit of a buoyant market, I believe. I wouldn’t say there is a strong investor push but we get a bit of a mix of people relocating and wanting to rent out their home, as well as investors.
“I think we’re yet to see Cairns take off from an investment perspective.”
Andrew Evan Real Estate’s new space includes a reception, boardroom and space for the three selling agents.
Mrs Olufson said the business also has space to take on more agents.
